Join us for this gorgeous 7 miles there and back hike to the hills of Simi Valley. This trail is called the "Rusty Trail" because of all of the abandoned mininig equipment and "rusty" items that can be spotted by the Trailmen, culminating in the abandoned Steam Shovel at the top of the hike, with sweeping views of the entire Valley.
Long Canyon hike. About 3 hours, with 500’ gain. Wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots. Bring water and a snack. The hills should be starting to get green at this time of year. It is recommended that Trailmen bring compasses and they will given topographic maps to use as they find and lead the way to locate fossils, the frog pond, and other landmarks. This could be a little challenging as they will have multiple trails to choose from. If we have enough registered dads, we’ll divide the trailmen into two teams traversing the loop in opposite directions and hiding clues (and decoys) under rock piles for the other team to find.
