Hey Troop,
Just a reminder that we will be meeting this Tuesday for our regular troop meeting at 6:15pm. Our Woodlands boys will be working on their Heritage Branch— and will be participating in packing boxes for Operation Christmas Child (See below for more details), and our Navigators will be working on their Trail Skills badge work.
Operation Christmas Child.
NewHeart is again an official collection week station for Operation Christmas Child this year— and at Tuesday's meeting we will be joining in a "packing party" for OCC. If you and your trailmen have items for a shoebox — bring them (specifically we need small toys, washcloths, and scissors), but we will also have plenty of supplies to pack some shoeboxes with. Our goal for Tuesday is to pack 100 shoeboxes! In addition, if your Trailmen wants to get some volunteer hours (for a Badge or just for fun)— our team is looking for people to help with Collection week November 12-19th. See the OCC representative/leader Tania Bishop at this week's meeting if you'd like to volunteer for an hour (or more) during collection week.
Our Second November Meeting is the 13th! (Not the 20th!)
We regularly meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month—but November is not regular-our next troop meeting (after this weeks) will be on a non-standard night- November 13th. That is not a Typo— and is scheduled to accommodate for Thanksgiving week. We will be joined by our good friend Gunnery Sergeant Napper for a demonstration of Flag folding, and military marching. You will not want to miss this one— so please mark your calendars so as to not miss it!
USS IOWA Camping Trip
Our USS IOWA camping trip is coming soon—November 17th— and our registration will need to close very soon. If you are planning on joining us for this event, please register today on the website This event is $90/per person, so please make sure you select the appropriate number when paying (Dad's- you count as one!) The cost is high, but the experience will be a once in a lifetime one. Because this is a group outing— we will need to caravan, and arrive and depart all together. Muster at the IOWA will likely be in the early afternoon (3-4pm) Details will follow as we get closer and get more details from the USS IOWA.
Awards Ceremony coming soon
Also just a reminder that our awards ceremony is coming at the end of the month on November 27th. Please check with your Trail Guide for any attendance / step corrections that need to be made—so we can make sure your Trailmen is awarded correctly. For those boys new to the Troop, or new at their current group level (Fox, Hawk, etc)— joining requirements will be needed for them to earn their Joining Award.
