Trail Life Parents and Trailmen. We are excited for a new season to begin shortly— and our first official troop meeting is scheduled for the 21st day of August. (Schools are beginning early this season and so will our Troop Season). Registration and a full calendar of events will be available soon— for now, check out some important details for the new season.
Our New Website.
While we are still a ministry of NewHeart Church, our troop now has our own dedicated website at TLSV.org (Visit our site now!) Why? The primary reason is CONTENT. We wanted to add a bunch of dedicated pages and documents to the site as a resource for our parents and adult leaders ( as well as trail men) to have easy access to. Specifically we have created several useful pages:
- Knowledge Base of information to act as a constantly updated resource for you on the various subjects and topics we cover during our troop meetings (we will be updating this and adding to it as we grow).
- News & Updates page that will allow you to have a central spot to look for specific details or communication from the Troop Leadership team and the various leaders who will be leading activities or events.
Registration Opening Soon!
We will be opening registration for the 2018-19 season soon, and will have an incentive for registering early—so stay tuned for a followup email once registration opens early next month. This past season with the program changes (and the addition of our official Woodlands trail Manual), we've had to take a look at our local troop fees. Our troop leadership has decided to change our troop fees in two ways:
- Troop Fee will be $100 per Trail man (Our 2017 Prices) (with multi-sibling discounts still available). This is up from last season, but allows us to account for the sheer volume of new awards our boys are earning with our new woodlands program. (This fee covers our charter renewal fees, equipment and supplies used for the program as well as all awards earned by our boys).
- A Sign-up Fee for New Trail men. The fees will be $25 for Woodlands Trail Trailmen, and $50 for boys entering the Navigator Program as a 1st year (or new to the troop). These fees take into consideration the actual costs required for Woodlands trail manuals, and Troop Standards for our Navigator boys. (For those who were part of their Current Program in the past season, a Sign-up Fee will not be required. This will only be required for *New* Trail men joining the troop, or for boys who graduate to the Navigator program in 2018-19.)
Trail Life Simi Valley Leadership Academy
As announced at our end of season Awards Ceremony, we will be kicking off our Navigator/ Adventurer Leadership academy at the beginning of this season. This Leadership Academy will be required for all existing Navigators/Adventurers as well as any boys promoting into those ranks. The purpose is simple— we want to equip our older Trail men with the tools they will need to lead both inside our troop, and outside in the world. This leadership academy is our beginning point at equipping our young men to lead well. The date set for the Leadership Academy this year is SUNDAY AUGUST 26TH from 2-7pm
