Airshow Hike and Ultimate Frisbee

Update #1: Meet Location Change
Greetings TLSV,
Here is our first change to the upcoming Air Show HTT scheduled for this Saturday October 10. Due to a recent route map published by Edwards AFB we are changing our meet location to the George Lane Park, 5520 W Ave L8, Quartz Hill, 93536. Our meet time will remain 10:30am. This park appears to have more ground for ultimate frisbee or whatever activity we choose than our previous location. Thanks for your flexibility as we try to find the best location to view the parade of planes. As we say in the Air Force, "Flexibility is the key to airpower."

We currently have a Hit The Trail scheduled for Sunday October 11 and are shifting the date to Saturday October 10. Normally Edwards AFB hosts an air show in October at either the base or at Fox Field in Lancaster. Due to Covid 19 they will be conducting a hybrid air show. There is currently limited information available to the public but from what I understand there may (repeat may) be flyovers of military aircraft in and around the Antelope Valley on Saturday between 11:00a and 1:00p on Saturday October 10. The public website is avairshow.com. Our preliminary plan will be to meet at Apollo Park at 4555 W. Avenue G, Lancaster 93536 which is just east of Fox Field at 10:30a. Bring a lunch, sunscreen and plenty of water. You should also bring a camp chair and it would be a good idea to have an easy up in the event we are not able to find shade. This will be more of a static HTT than normal. We may even have some lessons during our time at the park. Due to C19 or other circumstances we may need designate another location prior to our meet date/time.

*****In the event the air show gets cancelled or it is otherwise impracticable for us to attend our fall back plan will be to meet at Indian Creek and hike to Paradise Falls in Thousand Oaks. For consistency of scheduling we will stick with the same date and time as the planned air show meet time of Saturday October 10 at 11:00a. Bring lunch and water as we will hike in, eat and hike out.****
As we say in the Air Force, "Flexibility is the key to air power." We are in new terrain with C19 and the possibility of attending a hybrid air show so we appreciate your flexibility and understanding.
