Batman Cave Hit the Trail (El Escorpion Park)
Join us for our super fun trip to the cave we call the "Batman Cave" (though it's highly unlikely our caped friend will actually be there this early in the morning). We are meeting at the El Escorpion Park in Woodland Hills at 9am for this fun adventure. Please bring shoes that will allow you and your Trailman to Hike well - as there will be some minor climbing portions as well, but this hike should be doable for all Trailmen.
The Trail head is where Vanowen ends and turns into sunset ridge (approximately a block West of valley circle and next door to Fuschi nails. Parking is available in the nearby neighborhood on the street)
Description of the Hike
Are you looking for a hike that's an action-packed adventure? Rarely does a 2.1-mile loop offer as much excitement as the hike to the Cave of Munits and Castle Peak. You'll start with a gradual warm-up across El Escorpion Park to Upper Las Virgenes Open Space Preserve to find a fun vertical cave just begging to be explored. You won't need any ropes or gear to get through the cave, just an adventurous spirit that will lead you out the top of the cave to a tough off-trail ascent to Castle Peak, a panoramic summit towering over the west end of the San Fernando Valley. The loop closes with a swift descent from the crown of jumbled rocks. Are you up for it?
The start of the hike (trailhead) is El Escorpion Park in Woodland Hills.
Hike should take an hour to 75 minutes so should give us plenty of time to explore with the two hours allotted.
