Trail Life Families,

We're looking forward to seeing all of our Trailmen tonight as we have a very special (and favorite) meeting for our Woodlands Trail boys— Gun Safety Training. Several of our well trained dads will tonight be instructing our Woodlands boys on some practical things that may save their lives, helping them to know "What do I do if I find a gun?" And how to safely understand and handle firearms. As always, our boys will be well supervised as they learn the cardinal rules of firearm safety, as well as have some fun games and other activites. Our Navigators will continue their work on their Ropework badges tonight.

Additionally— each of our Trailmen will TONIGHT be assigned to an integrated patrol led by one of our senior youth leaders from the Navigators or Adventurers. In addition to appointing our Junior Patrol Leaders (JPL) and Assistant Junior Patrol Leaders (AJPL), we will assign each boy in our troop to one of four integrated patrols (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie or Delta). These cohorts of Trailmen will stick together for the remainder of our troop season as a PATROL— and compete with their peers in other patrols during our regular patrol challenges. Our integrated patrols allow for many things: chiefly, 1)Giving our Navigator / Adventurers opportunities to have practical experience leading others (which gives our First/Second officer and adult leaders an opportunity to observe and coach leadership), and secondly it gives each boy a "team" to be part of for fun activities and events— a team that consists of boys younger and older than himself.

Hit the Trail - This Saturday - Airshow Hike and Ultimate Frisbee

Normally Edwards AFB hosts an air show in October at either the base or at Fox Field in Lancaster. Due to Covid 19 they will be conducting a hybrid air show. There is currently limited information available to the public but from what I understand there may (repeat may) be flyovers of military aircraft in and around the Antelope Valley on Saturday between 11:00a and 1:00p on Saturday October 10. The public website is avairshow.com. Our preliminary plan will be to meet at Apollo Park at 4555 W. Avenue G, Lancaster 93536 which is just east of Fox Field at 10:30a. Bring a lunch, sunscreen and plenty of water. You should also bring a camp chair and it would be a good idea to have an easy up in the event we are not able to find shade. This will be more of a static HTT than normal. We may even have some lessons during our time at the park. Due to C19 or other circumstances we may need designate another location prior to our meet date/time. More details on our Troop Event Page »

Little Jimmy Backpacking Trip is coming Soon!

Little Jimmy Backpacking trip is our first, and most accessible backpacking trip of the season— and anyone can do this one with us. For many of our Trailmen (and dads) this is their first experience with backpack camping, and is a great introduction. This camping trip is absolutely free— but we need to know who is planning on attending. We will be hiking together to avoid anyone getting lost— so please let us know what days you're planning on coming. Come ready tonight with any questions about our Trip— as we'd like to know who is "IN" for this fun high adventure camping trip with us.
