FIRST MEETING PLAN & PARENT INFORMATION MEETING.

In addition to the fun Pneumatic rockets, our first meeting of the season will include two important parent orientations that you won’t want to miss.
NEW FAMILY ORIENTATION |  Our Troopmaster Ryan Settle, will be giving a new parent orientation, for all new families to our troop.  In this meeting, we will explain our programs, how awards and advancement work, as well as give an overview of the troop calendar.   We will also help parents with registering for both the Local troop, as well as registration with Trail Life USA, and answer any and all questions you may have about Trail Life.  This parent meeting will take place during the activities for our Trailmen.
NAVIGATOR  ORIENTATION  |  We will have a special orientation for new and returning Navigators. We are hoping to give our Navigators additional opportunities to earn elective badges during the troop season, so we will be discussing all of the possible elective badges, and giving our Trailmen an opportunity to select which badges they’d like to pursue during the program year.

LEADERSHIP ACADEMY REMINDER FOR ALL NAVIGATORS / ADVENTURERS

At Leadership Academy— which is our Leadership training class for all Middle/High School aged Trailmen is  scheduled for Saturday Aug 21 at 1:00 PM.  We will go over several leadership topics and will be referring to a scene from the movie Gettysburg, directed by Ron Maxwell. The scene depicts the 20th Maine Infantry Regiment's defense of Little Round Top against Confederate attackers.

I highly recommend watching the entire movie to get the context and gravity of the situation Col. Lawrence Chamberlain, Commander of the 20th Maine, was facing on the hill.  Mr. Settle has put together a clip for navigators to watch if they cannot access the entire movie (with some pre-work questions to consider before attending leadership academy).  To access this clip, visit The Leadership Academy 2021 Resources Page (the password was emailed out to the troop members.)

WE NEED YOU DAD!

As a reminder, we really rely on our many troop Dads (and surrogate dads, uncles, grandpas, etc) to run our Trail Life Troop.   Our troop only succceds when we have each dad participating and adding their infuluence to our troop.  Our High level leadership positions are listed below, and we need lots of other dads to make our program a success.  Please reach out to Myself (Brian Fox), our Troopmaster (Ryan Settle), or any of our troop level leaders listed below if you’d like to become a registered adult leader, and contribute to our troop.
  • Troopmaster (oversees the entire troop / program)  - Ryan Settle
  • Ranger (oversees the Woodlands trail - K-5)  - Bobby Albanese
  • Trailmaster (oversees the Navigators - 6-8th)  - Pastor Brian Fox
